What is Chelate?
When metal atoms or ions interact with ligands containing two or more coordinating atoms, they form complexes with a ring structure. Such complexes are called chelates. The ligands that can form chelates are called chelating agents, also known as complexing agents.
The term "chelate" is derived from the Greek word "Chele", meaning crab claws. A chelate is like crab claws holding minerals in place, exhibiting high stability. In 1930, the first chelate - EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) chelate - was synthesized in Germany and was used to treat patients with heavy metal poisoning. Subsequently, chelates have been continuously studied and developed and have been applied in the treatment of arteriosclerosis and other diseases. After the appearance of amino acid chelates in the 1970s, they have been widely used due to their good bioavailability.

The advantages of amino acid chelated minerals
Amino acid chelated minerals are easily absorbed by the human body due to their low molecular weight and true covalent chemical structure. The absorption efficiency of amino acid chelated calcium is 60%-80% higher than that of common calcium salts and 60% higher than the calcium in milk. The biological utilization rate of amino acid chelated zinc is 200%-300% higher than that of zinc salts and 200% higher than methylpyridine zinc. Amino acid chelated magnesium is 250% higher than inorganic magnesium. Moreover, experiments have shown that amino acid chelated chromium, copper, iron and manganese can effectively increase the biological utilization rate. The biological utilization rate of amino acid chelated iron is 3.8 times higher than that of ferric sulfate, 3.6 times higher than ferrous oxide, and nearly 4 times higher than copper sulfate and 6 times higher than copper carbonate.
